Sustainability
At Sin Heng Chan (Malaya) Berhad, we believe that long-term economic success is inseparable from environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and sound governance.
In our plantation segment, we are firmly committed to producing sustainable palm oil to the principles of No Deforestation, No Peat, and No Exploitation (NDPE). Our policy, revised on 22 October 2025, aligns with the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) certification and the expectations of downstream markets and global buyers.
We have taken deliberate action to address our sustainability challenges on the ground through the issuance of clear instructions to all contractors and field staff to comply fully with our NDPE commitments which recognise 31 December 2015 as the cut-off date for compliance. Any identified and verified non-compliance to these policies shall result in a structured remediation or recovery programme to address legacy issues transparently and responsibly.
We extend our sincere gratitude to those providing comments, feedback and support on our sustainability journey, including all employees, contractors, suppliers, NGOs and community partners in our shared commitment to protecting both people and the planet.
We believe sustainability also means being accountable and responsive to those affected by our operations. We are committed to resolving all legitimate grievances through a fair, transparent, and inclusive process.
A formal Grievance Mechanism is currently being developed to provide clear channels for stakeholders—including employees, contractors, communities, and NGOs—to raise concerns or complaints. The process will ensure that each case is logged, investigated, and resolved in a timely manner, with outcomes communicated publicly.
In the interim, stakeholders may contact our Sustainability & Compliance Unit ([email protected]) directly for assistance or clarification. We welcome queries from any party on alleged violations of our sustainability policies. We apologise for any shortcomings and view every grievance as an opportunity to learn, strengthen our systems, and reinforce our commitment to continuous improvement.
Sustainability is an ongoing journey. Our next milestone is the publication of a Remediation / Recovery Plan to comply with the NDPE cutoff date, which will disclose the proposed measurable indicators, grievance resolution status, and community engagement outcomes.
